The town is the only one in Greenland that is not on the coast, being at the end of a 160km
long fjord. It is therefore pretty secure from fog, which is why the airport was first built
as a US base in World War II. 400 people live here, almost all connected to the airport.

There are a lot of old NATO barracks here from the Cold War, this one was our home for the night

Converted for tours to the nearby ice sheet
The departures board the next morning, interesting to see Pituffik Space Base, the American base in the far north of the
country, on the list. Nuuk was still fogged out so the daily Copenhagen flight actually came into and left from here that day.
